Custom Skins

Hello boys,

CRVNMRHEAD brought up custom skins the other day and I thought it was a fantastic idea. They would be modified versions of the regular skins with, say, the Low Caliber Arms blazoned on the front . Now the catch is: you have to download them yourself and place them in your Rune directory, so they would be exlusively available to us. Moreover, they do not replace the original skins, so theoretically you could use the skins as you pleased (although they’d only work on our server), sort of like an extra suit in your closet.

If any of you have ideas on how to implement this or have any skinning experience, here is the place to speak up.

Here’s a preliminary idea:

Salve,

To make a skin available for use on a server (you host or dedicate), open Rune.ini in any text editor and scroll to the part that says:

[Engine.GameEngine]

add this line

“ServerPackages=sw” (were sw is the skin name); pay attention were you copy the files that come along with the skin.>>the “int”&“u” in System, the"utx" in Textures, the “uax” in Sounds.

>>>>>If still does not work do this:

\2) Open RuneI.int file and go to

[Public] and add

Object=(Name=sw,Class=Class,MetaClass=RuneI.RunePlayer,Description=“…sword-warrior..”)

Carpe Diem,

Imp,

although it’s not practical to install it as a server package (it’s 1.2 MB which exceeds the size of our map and scripts combined) – it should be possible to put it on the server.

If it can work without being a server package we’re in the business.
