I’m thinking about implementing Stats for the Low Cal server which will keep a running record of Games Won, Total Frags, Deaths, etc. for each player. Check back periodically at the Low Cal server to see who’s #1 etc. and where you rank. The public would be able to access this too.
I need to know from you guys:
\1) are you game
\2) if anyone knows their way around Java / C++ (NuTT, Sturm, others?)
The server side Rune implementation should be fine; parsing the results of a log file into .html however requires some executables. Or not? We’ll look into this, too.
As it stands I configured a server to dump out stats like the following:
0.00 info Server_AdminName Low Caliber Club
[…]
15.04 player Rename Big_Tits_Wife 1
15.04 player Connect Big_Tits_Wife 1 False
15.04 player TeamName 1
15.04 player Team 1 255
15.04 player TeamID 1 0
15.04 player Ping 1 0
15.04 player IsABot 1 False
15.04 player Skill 1 1.000000
89.19 kill 1 Weapon 0 Sever
89.19 game_end Match Limit
[…]
Our task is to parse these files in a statistically significant way; but interestingly, our lives are ordered according to milliseconds, events and damage types.
As far as I can tell, this project will require two main parts:
\1) a server-side executable which monitors for new log files and either a) processes them on the spot and forwards a dynamically produced mark-up file to the stat server or b) forwards them for remote processing (given hosting limitations I think it will look more like c) download the collected logs manually at intervals or better d) a local executable which monitors the FTP for new files and downloads them for i) local parsing or ii) remote parsing.
\2) a remote server method (ASP plus Java or C#) which receives the mark-up and in the case of 1.a) / 1.c,d.i) handles web-queries or 1.b) / 1.c,d.ii) in addition generates .html on the fly.
I got a hold of the .net SDK and Visual Studio is in the mail; but Sturm if you have any expertise or know of any man-power I could muster for a down-to-earth price, your input would be much appreciated.
